Alaleh Ahmadian

I am currently a Research Scientist at Meta.

I obtained my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Washington State University where I was advised by Prof. Jana Doppa. During my Ph.D. I spent some time as a machine learning engineer intern at Meta. Previously, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran).

My general research interests are in machine learning for optimization, planning, and sequential decision-making under uncertainty and its applications to real-world problems in engineering and scientific domains. Specifically, I utilize ML methods and design optimization algorithms to solve hard real-world problems where there is usually limited data available, there are multiple functions that should be optimized simultaneously, the functions are black-box and expensive-to-evaluate, and when existing state-of-the-art optimization methods fail to work.
